Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has said he has “good expectations” for what the summer will bring him after admitting he has held talks with Steven Gerrard over his future at Ibrox.

The Colombian hitman has been at the centre of a number of reported transfer hunts but despite plenty of interest claimed he still remains in Glasgow, leading the line with great effect.

With 27 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions, including four in the midweek clash with Kilmarnock, the South American star has confirmed he knows plenty of sides are keen on him following his form but insists he is happy with his time at Rangers so far.

Speaking to Caracol, as quoted by the Daily Record, he said: “The topic about the offers is quite interesting, knowing that nothing happened now during the winter break there and that they wanted to keep me here at Rangers, and that’s what happened. Now there are some good expectations about the summer.

“Like I said I know there’s a lot of teams interested but lets see what happens at the end of the season. I don’t have anything specific, which team(s) made an offer out of all the clubs interested, but I just know that there’s a lot of clubs interested.

“He let me know that he wants me to stay here with the team so that what he communicated with the press, that I was going to stay here. I had a conversation with him and he told me has was happy that I was here and finish the season with the club.”

Opinion

What are these expectations that Morelos speaks about? An expectation to leave Ibrox in the summer? An expectation of an improved contract? Something else? It is enough to send the Rangers faithful crazy with paranoia and understandably so. He is without a doubt their most important attacking threat and his goals are the only reason that the club are in with an outside chance of securing the top flight title and a shot at the Scottish Cup. The more he scores the more interest there is going to be and he already seems to have plenty of suitors keeping a close eye on him. Luckily for the Ibrox support, he seems pretty happy at the club and it might take a hefty deal to prise him away. He does not look like he is angling for an exit any time soon and so Gerrard can be confident of keeping him around if their demands are not met.
