Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Wes Foderingham will play for Rangers tomorrow in the absence of number one keeper Allan McGregor.

McGregor lost his appeal against his ban and is suspended for the game, but Gerrard has “full trust” in Foderingham.

Foderingham, who was the number one keeper last season, has made just one Premiership appearance under Gerrard to date.

OPINION

This is a big chance for Foderingham to prove that he can challenge McGregor for the number one spot at Rangers. It might be even more important to keep a clean sheet tomorrow with Alfredo Morelos suspended also, and doubts over the fitness of Kyle Lafferty and Jermain Defoe. Foderingham was unlucky to lose his place to McGregor this season, and maybe doubly unlucky that McGregor has been in arguably the best form of his entire career since he arrived at Ibrox. Foderingham didn’t do much wrong last season and we thought he might try and land a move in the January window with his lack of opportunity. He stayed and now McGregor’s suspension has given him a small window to prove to Gerrard that he is undroppable, starting on Saturday at Ibrox. Gerrard gave him a big boost of confidence when he said that Rangers were lucky to have “two number ones”. That’s some good man management right there.
