Chris Sutton and Darrell Currie have picked out Celtic trio Jeremy Toljan, Scott Brown, and Timothy Weah to feature in his Scottish Premiership Team of the Week.

All three starred in the Hoops late 2-0 win over St. Johnstone on Sunday – a result that allowed Brendan Rodgers’ side to open up a six point lead at the top of the table.

Brown put in a typically bullish display in the centre the park for the defending champions, while Jeremy Toljan came off the bench at half time to make his debut in place of Mikael Lustig.

Weah also made his impact as a substitute, coming on for the injured Odsonne Edouard to lay on an assist for James Forrest before grabbing the second himself.

Sutton and Currie’s full team of the week also included Rangers duo Ryan Kent and Scott Arfield.

OPINION

Celtic are starting to look like champions again. After a rocky start to the season, and after a couple of blips that allowed Rangers to edge their way back into the title race, the Hoops are starting to flex their muscle a little bit and are in real danger of leaving the rest of the league in their dust. A six point gap looks like a commanding lead, and Rangers’ flaky form of late will go a long way to convincing the Bhoys that if they can hold their nerve, the title is theirs. The performance of Jeremy Toljan will be a real encouragement to everybody involved with the club, but it is the explosive arrival of Timothy Weah that promises to grab headlines and quickens pulses from now until the end of the season. The young American has boundless potential, and with the right amount of trust and exposure, he could be the signing that makes the difference in this year’s title race.
