OPINION
Celtic went out of the Europa League last night but they can hold their heads high after a valiant effort to overcome a 2-0 deficit from the first leg in Spain last night. They were the better side for the first 45 minutes of the game but were scuppered when Jeremy Toljan was sent off for a second yellow card after 36 minutes. There was no realistic way back from that but Celtic kept knocking on the door before Kevin Gameiro made it game, set and match to the home side with a goal on 70 minutes. Celtic didn’t score but many of their players were immense last night – Scott Brown and Jonny Hayes were two of the outfield heroes. But it was the form of 27-year-old goalkeeper Scott Bain that really caught the eye, with BBC Sportscene pundit Tam McManus saying he was superb and had nailed down the number one slot. Plenty of Celtic fans agreed with him as well. He has been transformed under Brendan Rodgers since being bombed out of Dundee after falling out with manager Neil McCann. What a career move it’s been for him.
Here are the best reactions to Bain from last night’s game:

Don't really care what he's with now. Last night he proved his reaction saves were the equal of Gordon's. That was Gordon's best attribute. No doubts remaining about Bain. He is the 1st choice keeper now

Three superb saves and he was unlucky with the goal. When our man got sent off I said to my boy, Bain going to be a busy man & he could be a hero

Agree 100% with your statement Scott Bain had an outstanding game for Celtic. https://t.co/B0ouziYCYd

I only wish they had played like that last week but was very proud of them all tonight. Johnny Hayes has heart-ran like a linty all night. Bain was brilliant & the defence played well – Simunovic & Ayer. A pity we went down to 10 men #Celtic #VALCEL ??????

Watch this. Look at the way Scott Bain is moving to start with, how he adjusts his feet, changes direction, and gets his right hand up to its highest point. I doubt you will see a better save than this for a very long time. Outstanding is an understatement. https://t.co/8w7VWod3sN

Disappointing to watch Celtic tonight and seeing that performance. If only they hadn’t froze last week, we may have had a chance. Have to say don’t think Eddie looks interested at the minute. Ajer and Jozo excellent, Bain excellent, Hayes pretty decent also. Onwards to 8IAR?
