Ally McCoist has pointed the finger of blame squarely at Alfredo Morelos for Rangers’ slump in form.
The centre-forward was absent due to suspension on Saturday as the Light Blues drew 0-0 against St Johnstone in what was their second consecutive goalless draw.
Chris Sutton claimed Morelos has let Rangers and Steven Gerrard down with his lack of discipline, a view to which McCoist subscribed.
“It’s difficult to argue, really,” McCoist told BT Sport’s live TV coverage on Sunday morning. “Also, you have to say the flip side of the coin. He’s the main reason Rangers have been successful to an extent this season, he’s also the reason they’re not doing better because sitting in the stand is absolutely no good to him.
“It’s a little bit of a contradiction. We spoke about him before – he’s without doubt one of the most talented players in the league but he has a problem with discipline.”
"I blame Morelos for Rangers' season and where they are languishing."
"He can't control himself! He has let his manager down."

OPINION
Even when he’s not playing, Morelos is the name on the lips of Bears and the pundits paid to deliver their views on one of Britain’s biggest and most historic clubs. One thing’s for sure; Rangers aren’t going to win the league if the Colombian hothead continues to spend lengthy spells on the sidelines. He is too good, and too effective, and too central to the success of Gerrard’s side, to be missing. Jermain Defoe was signed on loan in January but, aged, 36, he is no Morelos replacement. The 22-year-old has the pace, movement and all-round game to run opponents ragged. Former England international Defoe relies more upon service, as Gerrard pointed out in the aftermath of Sunday’s dispiriting performance, which is a major blow to their hopes of preventing Celtic romping to eight-in-a-row. Defoe can be even more effective playing alongside Morelos, especially if the Colombian moves defenders out of position. To do that, he must get back on the pitch. Without him, Rangers are snookered.
