Alan Brazil took a thinly-veiled dig at Rangers when discussing the decision to award Celtic midfielder Scott Brown a second yellow card for celebrating in the clash with Kilmarnock.

The talkSPORT host was discussing the decision to send the Hoops midfielder off for his celebrations after scoring the winner against Kilmarnock with Ray Parlour.

After the former Arsenal player compared it to getting booked for taking your shirt off among other things, Brazil couldn’t help but claim such incidents being punished could led to another penalty for the Gers.

“When they take off your shirt off is a rule, you get booked for that, swing it around your heart…” remarked Parlour (8:50am).

“You can get done for putting something on under it (a message) and have Rangers get another penalty,” chipped in Brazil quickly before moving off talking about Scottish football (talkSPORT, Monday February 18th, 8:51am).

OPINION

Brazil quickly got in his Rangers dig on the sly as it was right at the end of the segment, making it thinly-veiled, and it will no doubt not go down very well at Ibrox. It was a very bizarre remark to make at the Gers’ expense, as surely everyone should be over the fact that Steven Gerrard’s team recently had a game packed with penalties being awarded to them. Rangers were awarded four penalties in their 4-0 win over St Mirren earlier in February, and you feel like most have moved on from making that obvious joke. While Brazil clearly was not in agreement over Celtic captain Brown having to leave the pitch due to picking up a yellow card in the mayhem that followed his goal on Sunday, did he really have to take a dig at the Hoops’ archrivals? It just seem so random and not overly related to the situation he was discussing. However what is clear Brazil won’t be getting any praise from Gers supporters for his latest unnecessary remarks.
