Rangers have confirmed that teenager Nathan Young-Coombes has agreed terms to join the club from Premier League giants Chelsea.

The Gers announced via their official Youth Academy Twitter account on Friday that the 16-year-old centre-forward has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Glasgow side and his move is still subject to international clearance.

Young-Coombes had a trial with the Light Blues in December and it appears as though the young striker impressed enough to earn a permanent deal with the Scottish Premiership club.

OPINION

Rangers fans will surely be curious to see how Young-Coombes gets on in Scotland. The 16-year-old forward has already represented England at Under-15 level and he has also been called up to the Under-16s. It may be a few years before he is seen breaking into the first team of the Premiership club, but fans should be happy to see that they are able to pick up youngsters from Premier League giants such as Chelsea, especially when they have a lot of potential. Rangers would have had a good look at Young-Coombes during his trial with the club in December so the staff at Ibrox definitely know enough about him to have offered him quite a long deal. International clearance shouldn’t be much of an issue considering Young-Coombes is English and is only a youth player. Hopefully Young-Coombes can reach his potential at Ibrox and one day star in the first team.
