OPINION

In a game where Kris Boyd appeared to be hit by a coin and Celtic supporters invaded the pitch, there was bound to be a massive reaction by some Rangers fans on Twitter. The Gers faithful seem to be raging over the fact that their ex-striker Boyd was struck by what seemed to be a coin that was thrown by someone in the crowd before Scott Brown’s late winner in the 1-0 victory at Kilmarnock prompted a number of away fans to go onto the pitch. Let’s face it, a last-minute winner that puts a team eight points clear at the top of the table is going to be greeted with major celebrations by the supporters. No one appeared to be hurt and the fans were removed from the Rugby Park pitch fairly quick, so there’s not much issue there and it’s something that seems to happen in a lot of games across the UK. What is unacceptable is that coin that was thrown at Boyd. He is a Rangers man and has a lot of controversial opinions, but throwing something at him that could cause serious injury? Punishment is needed for that, so it is no shock that some Gers fans are fuming.
