OPINION

BBC Scotland’s chief sports writer Tom English has suggested that Stewart Robertson is deflecting blame to the BBC after Rangers dropped more points in the Scottish Premiership title race over the weekend. The Gers’ managing director has aimed several accusations at the broadcaster in what certainly does seem like a strategically timed interview that comes after both Alfredo Morelos and Allan McGregor were handed bans by the Scottish FA and Steven Gerrard’s men dropping points against against St Johnstone. English is clearly not a fan of what Robertson has said, and Rangers fans have been quick to hit out at the journalist. Fair enough they are standing by their club for their stance on the BBC, but this whole argument really is stupid and completely unwarranted. Robertson has diverted some attention away from the pitch to his comments about the broadcaster, so maybe English is right? It will be interesting to see whether STV or the Daily Record get blamed if the Gers crash out of the Scottish Cup on Wednesday night.
