Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes that Leeds United will have to settle for a point when they welcome Swansea to Elland Road in the Championship on Wednesday night.

Leeds watched Norwich move two points clear of them at the top of the table over the weekend after Marcelo Bielsa’s men could only muster a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

And ex-Whites midfielder Prutton is predicting his old club to draw 1-1 again this weekend, claiming that the Daniel James transfer saga could add something extra to the fixture against a Swans side that has been chopped and changed since their relegation.

“Leeds have got to do something to get back to winning ways. The Daniel James transfer saga will provide a nice little narrative to this, but I don’t think this will be as straightforward for Leeds as they might think, playing against a Swansea side that has been dismantled over the course of the season, whose aim is to finish safely in mid-table,” said Prutton on the Sky Sports website.

“Leeds would have sat and watched the East Anglian derby and seen Norwich come away with a 3-0 win over Ipswich that put them back to the top of the table so they’ll want to win this, but I’m going for a draw.”

OPINION

Surely Leeds are going to win this one. Swansea may have been a Premier League mainstay up until their relegation last season, but that does not make them a team to be feared in the Championship. Graham Potter’s side sit 11th in the table and there has been disarray at the Liberty Stadium lately due to Huw Jenkins quitting his chairman role at the club while the club offloaded a number of players in January. One player that could have been on the move was Wales international James, who was with Leeds on deadline day having undergone a medical before the deal was called off by the Swans. It will be very interesting to see how the 21-year-old plays against the team he almost signed for. It would not be a shock for him to score in the game because that’s the sort of thing that happens in the world of football. However Leeds should be winning this one.
