Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes that Leeds United will bounce back from the “absolute hiding” they received from Norwich last week by beating Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa saw his side lose top spot in the Championship standings after the 3-1 defeat to Norwich last weekend while Middlesbrough caught up with the automatic promotion spots by beating West Brom 3-2 at The Hawthorns.

However Prutton is backing the Whites to win on this occasion, predicting a 1-0 victory for Bielsa’s men.

“Middlesbrough look like they are right back on track now after a bit of a wobble, and it was a massive win for them at West Brom last week. Incredibly it was also the first time they have scored three in a league game since August,” he said on the Sky Sports website.

“Leeds were given an absolute hiding by Norwich and it is up to Marcelo Bielsa to make sure his side haven’t been dwelling on that result. I’ll back them to bounce back at the Riverside.”

OPINION

What a game this is going to be. Middlesbrough may have been on a high after their win against West Brom but they soon came crashing down to earth on Tuesday when they were beaten by Newport County in the FA Cup. Leeds on the other hand will be itching to set the record straight after losing to Norwich and dropping down to second last week. Before the game starts, the Whites could be third in the table if Sheffield United beat Aston Villa on Friday night – could that play a role in how Leeds perform? It could add some more fire into their bellies but it could also pile on further pressure. Either way Leeds have to win this game otherwise their promotion bid could continue to unravel at the seems. They have more tough fixtures on the horizon and injuries have been an absolute nightmare at Elland Road this term. Some fans might be worried about United’s promotion chances if Boro win on Saturday.
