Wolves defender Matt Doherty was draped in praise when playing Bristol City from supporters on social media as they were in awe of his talents on Sunday at half-time. Nuno Santo’s side went into the break 1-0 up against the Championship side in the FA Cup, and it seems the full-back caught the eye of fans. It’s no surprise that one Wolves fan dubbed Doherty their player of the season despite it only being February as he has been a sensation this season. The 27-year-old played an important part in Wolves taking the lead through Ivan Cavalerio as he carved out the chance, and fans will be hoping he racks up more assists in the second half. It would be a surprise if Doherty doesn’t turn provider again in the next 45 minutes of the FA Cup clash as he is becoming a glorified assist machine. You feel if Wolves are going to progress further in the FA Cup and potentially win it, Doherty will play a major part in that.
