COMMENTARY
Many West Ham fans were bemused that not only were Tottenham keen on Declan Rice, but they were also bemused that Spurs were reportedly plotting a £35million summer bid for him according to the Daily Express. Several claimed that Spurs would need to significantly up their offer with a couple amusingly discussing how much of Rice £35million would get the Hammers’ London rivals if they did bid that amount. It’s easy to see why Hammers fans were bemused by this latest transfer report as not only is Rice one of the stars of Manuel Pellegrini’s side, it wasn’t that long ago that he committed his future to the club by penning a new long-term contract. It would be a terrible and unlikely scenario if Rice ended up joining Spurs in the summer and it’s fair to say the Hammers fans below are right about the player costing way more than £35million. When you consider that Rice is only 20-years-old and has already impressed in two different positions in the Premier League, he should cost way north of that figure.
