COMMENTARY
It is quite easy for West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini to pick his first choice centre back pairing this season, Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena having been absolutely brilliant since their arrivals in the summer. However, the Irons boss now looks to have another option to fill in if he wishes. Having been ruled out of action since the start of the season through injury, the Hammers took to their official Twitter account to provide a behind-the-scenes shot of powerhouse Winston Reid in training alongside his teammates. Having not played for nearly a year due to a serious injury, he is going to take some time to bed back into the swing of things and he could well still be the fourth choice at the heart of defence behind Balbuena, Diop and even Angelo Ogbonna. Despite that some fans are delighted to see him back and after all he has done for the club it should come as no surprise. He might not be the most technically gifted defender but he does have plenty of redeeming qualities – not least his incredible work ethic. He will do anything for the Hammers and that sort of passion has not gone unnoticed.
