David Gold took to social media in order to wish West Ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini a happy birthday and share that everyone was looking forward to his return.

The Hammers co-chairman sent the message to the 26-year-old via his personal Twitter account, and attached a picture of the pair together at the London Stadium.

“Manuel Lanzini is 26 today,” stated Gold.

“Happy Birthday Manuel have a great day we all look forward to seeing you back to full fitness. dg.”

Lanzini is yet to feature for the Hammers this season after sustaining an injury while away with Argentina ahead of the World Cup in the summer.

OPINION

Anytime Gold tweets about anything West Ham related, supporters pay attention. It’s very odd for a Premier League chairman to be on Twitter as you’d think it’s just asking for criticism to be sent his way, but Gold seems to handle all that nonsense in his stride. However on this occasion the Hammers’ co-chairman is unlikely to get abuse directed at him over his tweet about Lanzini, but instead is no doubt going to get supporters wholeheartedly agreeing with him.  The 26-year-old has not been able to make any impact on the Hammers 2018/19 season so far, and his presence has been missed. Lanzini was one of the few players who could have held his head up high after the 2017/18 campaign and it’s an exciting prospect what he could under Manuel Pellegrini at the London Stadium. So hopefully the 26-year-old’s return is imminent as it would be a huge boost for the Hammers in the games that remain.
