OPINION
There must have been something in the air at the London Stadium, as West Ham United winger Michail Antonio was far from the player that he usually is.
The 28-year-old was absolutely excellent against Liverpool in their 1-1 draw on Monday night, scoring with a very smart finish in order to equalise for the Hammers and dent the Reds’ title chances even more – much to Manchester City’s delight, no doubt.
However, it is astonishing just how much Antonio has turned it around since the last match, and fans will no doubt be very excited about what he could produce next.
Nevertheless, there will be one player who will be worried after seeing this confident display – and this player is winger Grady Diangana.
Diangana was an unused substitute on Monday night and has not been utilised as much as he would have wanted to be recently, and this outing from Antonio has no doubt reinforced his place on the bench for that little bit longer.
The speedster has been outstanding in the matches he has played in this season, but now that Antonio has turned it around, it could be a while before he is handed the chance to impress once again.
Antonio needs to recognise that this is his time to shine though, as who knows when an opportunity like this will present itself again – so he must make the most of it while he can.
Diangana will be sweating profusely though, as his first team chances are looking more limited by the minute know that Antonio is playing like the Antonio of last season – the one the fans have been longing to see in this campaign.
Well, their wishes may have just come true, but at the expense of his talented teammate.
