Tottenham have joined the race for in-demand Birmingham City starlet Che Adams, who will be allowed to leave Blues in the summer, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet claims that the West Midlands outfit will allow their star man to leave come the end of the season, with a host of Premier League teams tracking him.

Spurs are said to have sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old recently, as have their Premier League rivals Everton, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle United.

Burnley and Southampton were in for Adams in January, with Birmingham wanting £15million for the youngster. Now, though, Garry Monk’s side will demand £20million for the 19-goal man.

Good move for Tottenham?

This is an interesting one from a Tottenham perspective. Adams is obviously a talented young player and he’s clearly destined for the Premier League, but the competition for him will be fierce. However, Spurs are the biggest of the teams that are thought to be in for the player so you would expect them to have the advantage in a transfer battle for Adams. £20million is a big fee for a Championship player but it’s par for the course for a young talent like this. The fact that they have scouted the attacker suggests that he’s somebody that they are genuinely interested in, and you can see why. Obviously it’s tricky to get a player to come in and be Harry Kane’s back up, but a young player like Adams might be more open to signing up for a reserve role. Plus, Adams is someone with the tactical flexibility to operate on the wing or in a second striker role, making him ideally suited to Mauricio Pochettino’s set up.

Likely to happen?

Well, it seems as if Adams will be allowed to leave Birmingham this summer and Tottenham are the best of the teams that are in for him, so there’s no reason why he won’t end up at the new White Hart Lane.
