OPINION
Hugo Lloris has been splitting opinion in the Tottenham goal recently. Prone to catastrophic errors but a brilliant shot-stopper, the Tottenham captain has been surfing on the fans’ affections this season and plenty of them have had enough. They want him dropped for the north London derby on Saturday with Paulo Gazzaniga performing well whenever he’s been called upon. One fan said Pochettino needs to be brave but we can’t see him making such a big move. Lloris was partly to blame for the embarrassing own goal scored by Kieran Trippier against Chelsea but you could make a worse case for the defender. And Pochettino has never hinted that he might drop Lloris in the Premier League. When you drop a goalkeeper it always seems much more of a serious thing and it would send a huge message out that we don’t think Lloris deserves yet. However, he needs to put in a flawless display at Wembley on Saturday, or the calls for him to sit on the bench will get louder. In the meantime, many hopeful Tottenham fans took to Twitter to implore Pochettino to drop him.
Here are the best tweets from disgruntled Spurs fans:
Poch needs to be brave and drop Lloris. Yes he is our captain but is becoming a liability and doesn’t offer the same presence as Gazza. I would also drop Kane to the bench and bring him on with 30 to go against scum on Saturday to tear their defence a new one. #COYS #THFC #Spurs

You have to lay some blame at Poch’s door, keeps rotating FB’s surely Rose over Davies any day & Aurier over Trippier is definitely a close call?! Again he leaves subs too late & also needs the balls to drop Lloris. #THFC

It's time for @GazzanigaPaulo – Lloris just can't keep looking like a scared dog and get away with it… Oh, and what has happened to Son since Harry returned? #THFC

for a club that relies SO heavily on their fbs(rb/lb) you'd think we'd have better quality at our disposal. why has Poch not started DRose in this match? makes no sense. & Lloris is SOOO overrated, Gazza for me.#THFC #COYS

Lloris has been quite good of late so I've kept quiet but again, in a big game, he's making mistakes. I know he's an elite shot stopper but I'd honestly rather have Gazza in goal. He may not be as good at shot stopping but he's still good & doesn't make stupid mistakes #THFC
