Danny Rose is set to be assessed ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game against Burnley. The news was confirmed by Tottenham ahead of their pre-match press conference and it means he could sit out Saturday’s game. Many Tottenham fans aren’t worried about this though as it means they can carry on playing Jan Vertonghen at left-back. The 31-year-old has been a revelation there after slotting in for the injured Rose and Ben Davies. His best game was against Dortmund in the 3-0 Champions League win, where he scored a goal, made another and was named UCL Champions League Player of the Week. Ironically, Davies is back in training, but he’s hardly given a mention, with one fan saying “Worrying thing is Davies is fit again”. Left-back isn’t a completely new position for Vertonghen though. He played in that position for his first season at Tottenham after joining in 2012 from Ajax. Spurs fans might be more used to seeing him in the heart of their defence, but they’re hoping that he will play on the flanks again if Rose is ruled out.
