The fact that Tottenham are still in with an outside shot of a title challenge at this stage of the season is nothing short of remarkable.

Given how exceptional both Manchester City and Liverpool have been, and how many injuries Spurs have had to contend with, to be five points behind the league leaders with a game in hand is a pretty mean feat.

This weekend, Mauricio Pochettino’s side go up against Burnley, knowing that a favourable result would move them one step closer to pulling off an unlikely upset.

According to BT pundit Robbie Savage, however, the London club will slip up against Sean Dyche’s side.

Savage predicts a 1-1 draw in a column for the Mirror, but his forecast really does Spurs a disservice.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side may be the rank outsiders in the title race, but they have more than earned their position in the league table, and deserve to be afforded the same level of respect as their title rivals.

If this was Liverpool or Manchester City, Savage would no doubt have had them down for a win at a canter.

Spurs may not be as glamorous as their peers, but they have proven time and time that they are a serious proposition, and yet people continually refuse to treat them as such.

Perhaps it plays to their advantage, being perennial underdogs, but sooner or later pundits will have to realise that Spurs have everything it takes to be the real deal in terms of a title bid.
