Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that talks with club chief Daniel Levy have brought renewed optimism over the club moving into their new stadium before the end of the season.

The Lilywhites were expected to take residence in their new permanent home after a season at Wembley but delays have meant staying at the national stadium, with only a couple of months of the current campaign left to play.

Having previously been pessimistic of leaving Wembley before the end of the season, Pochettino revealed that a meeting with a “very positive” Levy on Tuesday has brought him fresh belief of playing in their newly built surroundings before the Premier League comes to a close.

He told the Sun: “On Tuesday I saw Daniel and he’s very positive, so I hope yes we can play before the end of the season.

“I still think it’s going to be tough but I thought that before Palace got through the FA Cup and we changed the game. That make us more positive to believe that we move before the end of the season.”

Opinion

Tottenham’s new stadium has been one of the biggest talking points of the season for the fans – and not for the right reasons. It has become a bit of a running joke that the Lilywhites are still playing their home games at Wembley but at the same time the safety of the supporters is all the club will be caring about on their new build. Pochettino’s previous comments have suggested that the fans might have to wait until summer or even later before getting their first taste of a proper football match taking place at the ground but it seems as though Levy has said something to suggest that might well not be the case. Of course the Spurs chief will be wanting to keep spirits high and not suggest that he is still struggling to get this major project complete and so maybe he is putting on a brave face in front of his manager.
