Tottenham haven’t signed anyone in the past two transfer windows, but they could be set to steal a march on their rivals with a move for prolific Croatian winger Ivan Perisic in the summer.

According to a major transfer update from Italian outlet Tuttosport, via Sport Witness, the 30-year-old wants to play in the Premier League and Tottenham are the favourites to land him.

They claim that Perisic will sign for Tottenham in the summer, with the possibility of Moussa Sissoko and/or Serge Aurier moving the other way.

On the face of it, Perisic doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense.

Tottenham have looked for young players they can develop and Perisic is a 30-year-old with possibly his very best years behind him.

He’ll also come with big wage demands and will command a hefty fee too.

However, the report is adamant that Perisic will sign for Spurs and it would be a big statement of intent from Daniel Levy.

He knows that Pochettino is punching above his weight, given the money he’s had to spend and the transfers that have come into the club.

He will also be desperate not to lose Pochettino to a rival, with Man United making overtures.

Perisic has scored and created goals wherever he’s been – 22 in 78 games for Croatia, and 34 goals and 34 assists in 154 games for Inter Milan, show that he’s prolific and an assist-king.

Tottenham need a marquee signing in the summer and Perisic would fit the bill.
