Ray Parlour has revealed that he thought Tottenham had every chance of winning the Premier League and that it would be an amazing achievement for them.

The former Arsenal player joked that he would have to go into hiding if Spurs won the league but then proceeded to point out that they were relying on Liverpool and Manchester City to drop the ball.

Parlour added that he didn’t think it was often the bookmakers got it wrong so while Mauricio Pochettino’s side were title contenders, they should still be considered big outsiders.

“Well absolutely, I mean they have every chance, I’ll have to go into hiding (if they win the title),” said Parlour on talkSPORT (Friday February 22nd, 16:06).

“It will be an amazing achievement if they can somehow rely on the wheels coming off at Liverpool and Manchester City in the league, I don’t think the bookmakers get it wrong too often and they’re still big outsiders to win it.”

OPINION

Parlour joked that he would need to go into hiding if Spurs won the Premier League, however he seems confident that this scenario wouldn’t develop. While the former Gunners midfielder claimed that Spurs had every chance of lifting the title, he did seem to undermine their bid to do so in his next breath. It would be quite a shock if both Liverpool and Manchester City suddenly saw their form collapse enough in order for Spurs to take advantage. Both the Reds and Man City have constantly churned out results and impressive performances this season and don’t show any signs of slowing down.  Spurs currently sit five points behind both their Premier League title rivals, with Man City having played a match more, however their title ambitions aren’t completely out of their hands. Pochettino’s team have to play both Man City and Liverpool before the season ends, so they can at the very least help their title bid by defeating the duo.
