Danny Higginbotham heaped praise on Tottenham attacker Heung-min Son and claimed that the player was constantly improving.

The Sky Sports pundit, regularly seen on The Debate and Match Centre, shared that he thought the 26-year-old Spurs winger just kept getting better and better despite already describing him as outstanding.

Higginbotham added that he believes Son benefited from opponents prioritising stopping Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen during games rather than focusing on him.

“He’s outstanding, I don’t think there is any doubt about that and he is a player who just keeps getting better and better every time,” said Higginbotham on Sky Sports’ Match Centre (Sky Sports News, Thursday February 7th, 10:33am).

“I think the fact if you look at the goals that he has scored they’re not just going all left foot or all going right foot, there’s a real mix of the two of them so that makes it really difficult for an opponent to play against him in that sense.

“I think his movement and what has happened is during this season and to a certain extent last season cause when you think Spurs you think Eriksen, Dele Alli and Harry Kane so you probably to a certain extent…a lot of opponents would have thought he’s probably the fourth most important one to stop and that’s probably worked in his favour.”

OPINION

Higginbotham clearly is a member of Son’s fan club and who can blame him, as the attacker is likely gaining admirers with each passing game. The 26-year-old has shone in recent months for Spurs and has really stepped up for Mauricio Pochettino’s side when they have needed him most. Son has scored 14 goals, while assisting nine, in 30 appearances this season and you would back him to be involved in plenty of more goals in the coming weeks. With Kane out injury there is a lot more pressure on Son to deliver the goals but he does appear to thrive on that burden being handed to him. While other players would crumble at trying to fill in for a prolific forward like Kane, Son takes it in his stride and that is a testament to his attitude as much as his ability. Spurs fans and Pochettino will be hoping the 26-year-old continues improving just like Higginbotham rightly highlights that he is, as it would mean that the player and the club could have a very promising future together.
