The summer of 2018 might not have brought any signings to Tottenham but there was still plenty of business being done and paperwork being signed behind the scenes in north London.

That is because Daniel Levy was busy tying some of the club’s biggest stars down to new contracts to keep them committed to the cause long-term, the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Harry Kane and even manager Mauricio Pochettino putting pen to paper over their futures.

There were a couple of notable absentees from the list of signatures, not least Belgian duo Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele, both of which had contracts expiring this summer, and the midfielder has been sold while the defender has seen a clause triggered to extend his current terms.

The big one that will be worrying Tottenham fans will be Christian Eriksen, the Daily Mail claiming that the Danish superstar could end up running down his £70,000-a-week contract in north London before trying to seal a move elsewhere, with his demands said to be at least double what he currently earns.

If that is the case then the midfield maestro should be absolutely fuming with the reports regarding one of his teammates in the first team.

The Daily Mail have now claimed that despite having signed a five-year deal in July, Heung-min Son is set for a pay rise from £110,000-a-week to £150,000-a-week – a wage which is above the £140,000-a-week that Eriksen is said to be looking for.

Son might be one of Tottenham’s top players but to be earning that much more than Eriksen – who is at the very core of everything the Lilywhites do in attack and is perhaps on-par with Harry Kane when it comes to importance – is absolutely ludicrous.

If his South Korean counterpart does get such lucrative terms then the Dane can demand anywhere between £170,000 – £200,000-a-week – that is how good he is, and the fact the club are prioritising another player over him should be worrying for the fans.
