Many Tottenham fans will be fuming after talkSPORT host Adrian Durham claimed there was still a plausible nightmare scenario awaiting their club.

The broadcaster shared that he was going to lay out the nightmare that could  realistically await Mauricio Pochettino’s side and suggested that they may be playing their football in the Europa League next season.

“I’m going to give Spurs their nightmare scenario after they lost to Burnley, if they lose to Chelsea tonight then Arsenal Saturday live on talkSPORT, the Gunners, the enemy, the big rivals of Tottenham will probably be a point behind them,” said Durham on talkSPORT (Wednesday February 27th 17:14).

“Manchester United could be two points behind them, Chelsea could be four points behind them and a game in hand and all of a sudden that top-four place now looks in jeopardy , Spurs have a three week break we spoke about last week in March so players will come back to Premier League rusty through inactivity or either tired and injured from international duty.

“They then go to Liverpool, then to Manchester City then West Ham are at the new stadium to mess Tottenham up so there’s big problems ahead especially if they lose these next two games.

“Tottenham are done, this is my worst case scenario, stick a fork in them they are done, they won’t finish in the top four, they will however have the best stadium in the Europa League next season.”

Durham’s claim is surely infuriating for Spurs fans as it seems he is harshly writing their side off after losing 2-1 to Burnley.

While the broadcaster may claim he is only saying the worst case scenario he seems to revel in doing so and takes many unnecessary digs.

It was disappointing from a Spurs’ perspective that they lost to Burnley at the weekend, causing their Premier League title ambitions to take a blow, but the result doesn’t suggest the wheels are about to fall off.

Pochettino’s side are in a very good position to at least finish in the top four this season and there’s no reason to suggest they are about to drop the ball so much that they miss out on the Champions League.

In fact Spurs may even improve in the coming weeks as Harry Kane returned to the fold against Burnley and Dele Alli’s return to fitness may not be too far off.

While Durham is probably issuing these remarks in order to anger Spurs fans, they should be rightly aggrieved as only last week were the likes of the broadcaster (Source: talkSPORT) and the rest of the media hyping up Pochettino’s side.
