Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba heaped tons of praise on Tottenham attacker Heung-min Son and claimed he was the best player at Spurs by a country mile.

The Bluebirds centre-back simply said wow as Son’s stats for the season were told to him and shared that the 26-year-old Spurs attacker had given him sleepless nights.

Bamba added that the way Son had represented South Korea at the Asian Cup and then returned to Spurs without his form dropping was quite remarkable.

“Wow…absolutely (gives me sleepless nights) he hurt us when we played against them along with Harry Kane and Eriksen and Dele Alli, their movement is unbelievable and if you stop one the other one will hurt you,” said Bamba on Sky Sports News (Monday February 11th, 10:25am).

“I think he is Tottenham’s best player by a country mile as he has been unbelievable all season and considering he has been away on international duty and the way he has come back is remarkable so for me he is Tottenham’s best player.”

OPINION

Bamba clearly didn’t enjoy facing Son when Tottenham played Cardiff this season and his glowing verdict of the attacker reflects that. While Son does deserve a lot of praise after scoring 15 goals in 31 outings this season, Bamba is really being bold to call him Spurs’ best player. With Mauricio Pochettino having the likes of Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Dele Alli to call upon, it’s a very strong opinion to rate Son above that trio and go on to claim that he’s better by a country mile. Whether Bamba actually meant he is currently Spurs’ best player based on form currently is a possibility, but’s that’s not exactly what he said. With Kane and Alli out injured, Son has really stepped up to help Spurs stay in the race for the Premier League title and he has really cemented status as a fan favourite as a result. Hopefully the attacker is able to keep up his form in the coming weeks as he could play a major part in Spurs potentially getting their hands on a trophy.
