OPINION
It’s extremely difficult to disagree with what the Southampton fans are saying, here. Maya Yoshida may not be the best centre back in the world, but it’s absolutely criminal that he’s not getting a game in this Saints defence. Jan Bednarek has been pretty good recently, while Jannik Vestergaard has improved after a rough start to life at the club. Jack Stephens, though, is a massive liability and there’s no way that he should get a game ahead of Yoshida. The Japan international is far more experienced and less error prone than the Englishman, while he appears to try a bit harder than the lacklustre Stephens. We saw in the first half of the Saints’ clash with Arsenal how poor the latter is, with his mistake leading directly to the Gunners’ second goal in their 2-0 victory. He cannot be trusted and it’s baffling that Ralph Hasenhuttl continues to pick him over someone like Yoshida. The Japan star needs to be put back in the team moving forward.

Stephens cost us the win at Burnley. I have no idea why Yoshida hasn't replaced him.

We'd be 0-0 still if Stephens was dropped for Yoshida. #SaintsFC

What changes will we see from #SaintsFC during 2nd half. Come on Ralph sort it now. Yoshida needed on the pitch.

Bednerek yes, Vestergard improving. Can’t play together in a four though, too similar. That’s our issue, can’t play a four as don’t have the players. Yoshida isn’t good but better than Stephens.
