Charlie Nicholas remarked on Everton potentially changing their manager after witnessing their 3-1 defeat to Wolves and Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri should heed his remarks.

The Sky Sports pundit shared that while he understood that a lot of blame for the Toffees’ current troubles will fall at Marco Silva’s door, he didn’t believe it was always best to change the person in the hot seat.

Nicholas revealed that Silva was a good manager and that even though Moshiri had sanctioned the club spending big, some of the players were still not good and he needed to invest more.

The pundit also added that if Silva went then the players would just roll on and just wonder who would replace him.

“Some of the players are not good enough so whatever they have invested, a lot more is needed, I don’t know if the manager will be under scrutiny because of this because I don’t see that it’s right to always be changing a manager,” said Nicholas on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday (Sky Sports News, February Saturday 2nd, 17:17).

“Yes it is and I understand that (after Jeff Stelling said it was the way of the world) but probably if the hardcore Everton fans start growling, having a go at the board like the way they have done in the past, only one guy who gets it and that’s the manager.

“The players will roll on and say who is the next guy coming in? Because they’ve had good ones and I think Silva is a good manager, certainly a good coach, but if you can’t get the balance of the team right after all the money you’ve spent then it will fall on his door, but listen this is a big project.

“I don’t even know how much the current owner can throw back at this again, stadium being built init.”

Nicholas is spot-on with his remarks as there’s comes a point where the Toffees are suffering due to lack of stability as they keep harshly pushing managers out the door.

The Toffees have waved goodbye to Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce for different reasons; and seemed to look to the future when they appointed Silva.

While the manager is struggling right now, it’s clear that he doesn’t have the easiest job and continuing to chop and change managers before their given a respectable amount of time will surely just mean the Toffees are doomed to repeat mistakes.

The Toffees won’t be transformed over night regardless of how much money and how many new faces they welcome in transfer window, new players take time to settle and manager’s need time to implement their system.

Silva clearly plays and encourages a style of football that would see him popular amongst Toffees fans and would bring the results needed with the right players, but it’s a process.

Therefore Moshiri must heed the Sky pundit’s remarks about how changing manager may not be the right action as the Toffees will surely be doomed to repeat mistakes by continuing to drop the axe on the person in the dugout rather that establish stability at the club.
