Newcastle United must borrow the services of Manchester City attacker Phil Foden in the summer for the 2019/20 campaign as he’d be able to wow fans.

According to the Irish Sun Man City rejected the Magpies’ interest in borrowing the 18-year-old central midfielder as Pep Guardiola was looking to give him opportunities in cup competitions in the second half of the season.

Despite tasting rejection over Foden, Rafa Benitez’s side must successfully try again as they might get a different answer in the summer.

Especially if the player informs Guardiola that he needs more regular football in order to progress at the end of season, as that’s very likely scenario as most young players in the Premier League are hungry for playing time.

Foden, who has made eight Premier League appearances this season, is a fantastic talent whose silky skills would wow Magpies fans if he arrived anytime soon, even if on a temporary basis.

The teenage dazzler seems to have impressive creative vision, the talent to pull off a pinpoint pass, and could easily bamboozle opponents in the midfield by skilfully gliding past them.

Aside from his having the bags of tricks that would wow Magpies fans, he’d also excite them due to the fact he’d clearly improve the club’s attacking options going forward.

Rafa Benitez is often accused of his side playing a boring defensive style, but in fairness he’s not drowning in players that are draped in flair.

With Foden he’d have another one to call upon and it seems very likely that he’d be able to make a splash at St James Park in order to help the Magpies avoid being in a relegation battle next season, if they stay on course to retaining their Premier League status.

Therefore the Magpies must at the very least trying again for Foden in the summer are reportedly being keen in January.
