Newcastle United Kenedy is clearly on brink of having a crisis with his Premier League career after Rafa Benitez revealed how Chelsea were feeling about the winger’s current form.

The 23-year-old has surprising struggled to shine for Benitez’s side this season and in the majority of the 23 outings this season he has been a disappointment more often that not.

Kenedy proved when on loan with the Magpies in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign that he was a talented player, but this season he looks well below being of used to anyone in the Premier League.

The winger has made avoidable mistakes and at times you even have to question his body language, which is worrying when you start having doubts about players attitude.

Yet it seems that while things are going bad for Kenedy right now, they are only set to get worse unless there’s a drastic turnaround in his form.

This is because Benitez revealed that the 23-year-old’s parent club Chelsea were not only keeping tabs on the player’s progress but they were aware that his level of performance had dropped.

“Now he has to start again. Chelsea are following him. We have been talking. They know he is not playing at the same level. They can see him when he comes on the pitch,” said the Magpies manager, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“He has the potential. We have seen it ourselves. We had had a lot of conversations, watching videos, talking with him and people close to him to be sure he is focused.”

When you consider that Kenedy by all accounts is heading back to Stamford Bridge in the summer when his loan finishes with the Magpies, it’s seem a crisis is surely set to emerge over his Premier League career.

The Magpies are unlikely to want him again, he probably hasn’t attracted any other Premier League suitors and Chelsea are near certain to not give him a look-in based on his form this season.

It’s clearly sink or swim time for Kenedy as a result in the games that remain, starting with Wolves on Monday, and if he comes up short, he may need to start planning for life in a different league or for one in Chelsea’s reserves.
