Michael Owen has predicted Tottenham will defeat Burnley when the two sides clash at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The former Liverpool player believes Spurs’ clash with the Clarets will be a terrific one but thinks Mauricio Pochettino’s side will edge the game.

Owen highlighted that if his prediction is right then it will be the 12th Premier League away win for Spurs this season and that will set a new club record.

“Burnley are unbeaten in their last seven PL games, but they have a modest home record against the “big six” taking just two points from the last 42 available,” wrote Owen for BetVictor.

“Spurs have kept a clean sheet in their last three visits to Turf Moor, but this is a much-improved Clarets side who will test the title credentials of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

“I feel Spurs will edge what promises to be a terrific game between two inform sides and gain a club record 12th PL away win of the campaign.”

OPINION

Owen certainly believes Spurs’ clash with Burnley will be an important match for Pochettino’s side and it will test their title credentials. Tottenham can’t afford to drop points and Sean Dyche’s team could easily cause an upset. Burnley had an impressive 2017/18 campaign but they seemed to struggle at the start of this season. Yet, despite looking set for a relegation battle, Dyche has got his side looking back to their best in recent weeks. Just like Owen pointed out, Burnley are unbeaten in their last seven league outings and that shows they could be a tough nut to crack. Tottenham fans might think this is an easy three points but they can’t afford to get complacent. A win for Spurs and a defeat for Liverpool against Man United would actually put the destiny of the Premier League title in Tottenham’s hands. If they won every other game they would be crowned champions. Complacency really should be the only enemy.
