COMMENTARY
You would have expected that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would have wanted round pegs in round holes for the visit to Manchester United but injury problems forced him to try and fashion James Milner into a makeshift right back role. To say that the Anfield faithful were less than happy with what they saw from the English star in the first 45 minutes at Old Trafford is an understatement of epic proportions. Defensively suspect when coming up against the likes of Marcus Rashford, his impact at the other end of the pitch was not much better with poor crosses from out wide which would have left his teammates tearing their hair out. It was an experiment which failed to work for the Reds and with Trent Alexander-Arnold waiting patiently on the bench, you can imagine that Milner will not find himself shoehorned into the role again any time soon. If he is, you can expect that the Liverpool supporters are going to make themselves loud and clear with their frustrations.
