OPINION
Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi had a rough first half against Arsenal on Sunday. Obviously with the Argentinian playing more now than he did earlier in the season he is going to get the blame when things aren’t going as well as they were a few months ago. However, even he must admit he didn’t have his best 45 minutes against the Gunners. He attempted a bizarre overhead kick clearance early on which eventually led to the corner that Arsenal would score from. He was then part of the bizarre selection of marking assignments for said corner, which ended up with Raheem Sterling marking Laurent Koscielny who headed home. While Otamendi wasn’t directly to blame for that, as the senior defender he needs to take charge of that situation. He looked a little iffy throughout the first 45 and, when compared to the typically assured John Stones who was on the bench, his selection appeared slightly strange from Pep Guardiola.
