OPINION
There’s a battle outside of the Liverpool power three and it’s one that looks like it might have been won tonight. Jurgen Klopp preferred Daniel Sturridge when Roberto Firmino was injured during the Man United game, but the striker looked out of sorts and Liverpool ended goalless at Old Trafford. With Firmino out again tonight against Watford, Klopp opted for Divock Origi and Liverpool fans were raving at Anfield tonight after a brilliant performance from the 23-year-old. One fan said that if he’d come on instead of Sturridge at the weekend they would have beaten Man United. Another said Origi was a “different player” while he was also described as being “like a new signing” for Liverpool. Origi got his goal tonight, Liverpool’s third in a dominating 5-0 win, and he’ll have done his chances of more game time this season a world of good. In fact one fan said definitively, “He has to start at the weekend for me.” Sturridge will be looking on from the sidelines and thinking that his time at Liverpool is coming to an end.

If we’d subbed on Origi instead of Sturridge on Sunday I wholeheartedly believe we would have won.

The difference between origi and sturridge. Origi runs all the way back to get the ball and help in defense
