Jurgen Klopp went “ballistic” at his Liverpool players in a furious dressing-room tirade in the aftermath of Sunday’s goalless draw against Manchester United, according to a report.

The Sun claim the Anfield manager ripped into skipper Jordan Henderson for his conduct as he was subbed in the second-half of the bore draw at Old Trafford.

It is said that Klopp was also “unhappy” with Sadio Mane, who had a poor game as Liverpool stuttered to their third draw in four Premier League matches.

OPINION

There is a time and a place for laying into players. If manager get out the stick too often, it is counter-productive. Just ask Jose Mourinho, who was sacked after his man-management methods backfired massively at last Sunday’s opponents, United. No Liverpool fan will be fussed about Klopp savaging his players behind the scenes. The team delivered a wretched attacking performance at Old Trafford, although they defended solidly and were decent in midfield. Henderson’ refusal to initially shake Klopp’s hand when he was withdrawn was churlish and childish. He should know better. As club captain, the England man had every right to be frustrated, but his performance was little more than mediocre and Liverpool clearly needed shaking up. As for Mane, he was so bad in possession and on the ball, one pundit claimed “he was nearly United’s man of the match”. A memorable verdict, but one that could not really be questioned. The Senegalese will be lucky to keep his place after stinking the place out.
