BBC Sport journalist Rob Maclean has drooled over Ryan Kent as a “winger worth watching” following his latest eyecatching display.

The Rangers wide man scored the fourth of his side’s goals in their 4-0 hammering of St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday and continued the excellent recent impression he has made.

“It’s not the first time and it won’t be the last that Ryan Kent is one of the players of the weekend,” McLean wrote in his BBC Sport team of the week column.

“He slotted Rangers’ fourth goal against St Mirren, having clipped the crossbar earlier, and generally tormented the Paisley team. Kent is a winger worth watching.”

OPINION

Kent took some time to find his feet at Ibrox but none of Rangers’ many summer-of-2018 signings have been more impressive over the last few months than the Liverpool loanee. Operating on the left flank, the winger has created massive headaches for defenders with his directness, skill and impressive technique. He has never been renowned as a goalscorer, and his assist stats are nothing to write home about, either, but Kent is lifting his tallies as he gets to know his Light Blues teammates better. Aged 22, Kent will have a big decision to make at the end of the season about whether to go out on loan yet again, or try and force his way into the Liverpool first team. That is likely to prove beyond the Anfield academy product, who looks to have found his more natural level at Rangers. He can expect to be a main player and start whenever he is fit. Fine player as he is, that looks way beyond him at Anfield.
