Liverpool best possible XI v Watford

OPINION

Liverpool need to get back to winning – and scoring – ways after letting Man City back into the Premier League title race. Their lead at the top has been slashed to just one point but that still means Liverpool’s destiny is in their own hands.

And they couldn’t ask for a much better game for Mohamed Salah than Watford. Salah has only scored one in his last four league games, but scored four in one game against Watford at Anfield last season. For that reason, he should be the one to lead the line in the absence of Roberto Firmino, who looks set to miss out with injury. Daniel Sturridge disrupts the shape and style of the Liverpool side and we think his time is up at the highest level. He’s an impact sub now, no more.

Xherdan Shaqiri demands a run-out. He’s shown flashes of genius this season but has never had a proper run in the side. Klopp must put him out on the right tonight with Sadio Mane on the left. The three attackers will score goals tonight.

Elsewhere, Naby Keita should come back into midfield, alongside Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho. Trent Alexander-Arnold will come back in on the right of defence, with the rest of the side remaining unchanged.

That means 6ft2in Jordan Henderson and James Milner dropping to the bench.

This is the starting XI that will turn the style on and get Liverpool firing again v Watford:
