Many Tottenham fans will salivate over Simon Jordan remarks about the direction of Spurs as he paints a very positive picture regarding their future.

The former Premier League chairman shared that Spurs could look at Liverpool’s model regarding buying and selling players as well as claiming that Mauricio Pochettino may have his best chance at signing players as the fear of him leaving gives him leverage.

“Where there is real hope and opportunity is being able to sell players and still improve like Liverpool have done, John Henry has the moneyball mentality, so Liverpool are the model I think Tottenham will look at when aiming to improve, they balance the books, they’ve spent big when they’ve transferred other people,” said Jordan on talkSPORT (Thursday February 14th, 16:14).

“Of course that means who are they going to transfer, who is going to go out of Tottenham, I don’t think Joe Lewis is going to change his modus operandi which is Tottenham have enough to compete but he isn’t going to go after Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour, he’s gonna go in a certain way.

“They’ve got a new stadium, it’s gonna be the most incredible stadium that has ever been seen and Spurs fans should be looking like how did we get in that position quite frankly.

“Daniel Levy is the perfect chairman for Joe Lewis as he runs his money sociopathically in terms of his desire to keep it as close to his pocket as he can and they’ve change direction a few times around salaries and I think Tottenham will surprise a few people as Pochettino’s currency will be so high with the Manchester United threat that if he wants a player, Pochettino will have more chances of ever before of putting the owners’ feet to the fire.”

Jordan’s remarks hint that not only could Spurs target success by applying a realistic strategy for running a club, just look at how well it’s going at Liverpool,  but that Pochettino could get the players he wants.

Many Spurs fans will salivate over the idea of Pochettino getting the personnel needed to improve his current squad as even without signings in the last two windows, they have stayed challenging for honours.

Therefore it’s safe to say that if Pochettino’s currency is at high as Jordan believes will be, then surely he’s right to suggest the manager could get his way.

Also the fact Jordan highlights that Spurs have changed their tact previously regarding their wage structure, it does highlight how the club can adapt.

This view will surely have Spurs fans buzzing about the possibility even though Jordan’s verdict on club owner Joe Lewis is hardly inspiring.

Jordan seems certain that the Spurs chief isn’t going to change his stance on splashing the cash, implying that he is stubborn, and that he is set in his ways.

Despite this potentially mood-killing verdict, Jordan still seems positive on the future of Spurs and his remarks are sure to have a large number of Tottenham fans feeling the same way.
