Andy Gray fired a stark warning at Everton over the idea of parting company with manager Marco Silva as he suggested it could be just repeating the same mistakes all over again.

The retired Toffees striker shared that he didn’t want his former side to be constantly replacing managers and stated that someone needed to be given time at the club to succeed.

Gray added that the scenario at Everton was similar to how Manchester United struggled to cope with replacing Sir Alex Ferguson as he claimed a worthwhile replacement for David Moyes was still yet to be found.

“I just don’t want to keep repeating the same mistakes of getting another guy in, getting another guy in, someone has got to be given time like David Moyes was,” said Gray on beIN SPORTS, as seen in a clip uploaded to the broadcaster’s Twitter account.

“Bill Kenwright employed him like fifteen years ago? And gave him ten years, ten very stable years at Everton and since he left, on a smaller scale it’s been like Man United trying to find a replacement for Fergie, Everton have not be able to find a replacement for Moyes.”

OPINION

Given that Moyes left Goodison Park to become manager of Manchester United in 2013 and with Gray believing the Toffees still haven’t replaced the Scottish manager with it now January 2019, it’s rather worrying. It’s particularly worrying as it’s hard to argue with him as ever since Moyes left, the Toffees’ hot seat has been sat in by way too many faces. The Toffees have had no stability and it’s hard to see what direction the club are even aiming to go in. Toffees managers have been chopped at the first sign of trouble and in Sam Allardyce’s case, axed due to his playing style not fitting the bill. Yet even though current Toffees boss Silva encourages the type of football supporters love, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he isn’t sat in the Toffees dugout shortly. The Toffees have been in terrible form lately and the pressure appears to be mounting on the Portuguese boss, and to be fair hopefully the club heeds Gray’s words as the last thing that is needed is another new manager to arrive.
