With Tottenham out of the FA Cup and without a game this weekend, Kieran Trippier appeared on flagship football talk show Soccer AM on Saturday morning. He provided some Spurs insight, particularly with regards to the methods of Mauricio Pochettino, and also reminisced about his central role for England at last summer’s World Cup, when he scored a sumptuous free-kick in the semi-final defeat to Croatia. Some fans got especially misty-eyed about that free-kick, with a few claiming they “got goosebumps” watching footage of one of the highlights of England’s memorable and against-the-odds World Cup campaign, and hearing Trippier give his verdict on it. Others were less charitable when watching Trippier slot away a few penalties in aid of Newport County fans. Spurs fans were among those who remembered the right-back’s failed recent effort against Crystal Palace as their team exited the FA Cup at the fourth-round stage at the end of last month.
