talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino was not impressed in the slightest with the performance of Everton winger Theo Walcott on Saturday in the 3-1 loss to Wolves.

Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker condemned the Toffees to yet more misery in order to secure all three points despite midfielder Andre Gomes hitting back in what turned out to be a consolation goal for the home side.

He says that the speedster has not been showing his usual qualities recently, which was epitomised in the recent defeat to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

“Theo Walcott — where has he been? He was a shadow of himself on Saturday as they lost 3-1 to Wolves,” he said in his Times column.

OPINION

Cascarino is absolutely right about how Walcott has been performing recently. Saturday’s display was not the only time he has been underwhelming, which is a shame when you know he has the quality to inflict havoc on the opponents. Where has the Walcott who shone at Arsenal gone? There were more than enough glimpses of that last season, but this time around, that all seems to have faded into the past. He needs to start stepping up to the plate, because it is simply not good enough from him at the moment. Marco Silva’s team may be on a bit of a slump recently, and he has arguably been at the centre of that. He knows he can do better but there seems to be something that is holding him back slightly, but it is hard to grasp what that actually is. Either way, Silva needs to address Walcott’s poor form as soon as possible, otherwise he is going to drag Everton down even further.
