COMMENTARY
Everton defender Phil Jagielka had only made two appearances all season before facing Cardiff City on Tuesday, so it should be no surprise that he struggled. Several Toffees fans harshly took digs at his weight while another pointed out that 36-year-old looked knackered during the match, which is never a good sign. It’s no surprise that after a lack of first-team football lately Jagielka did look like he found the going tough during the 3-0 win over Cardiff. However at times his experience came in handy as he regularly got himself in the right positions to stop Cardiff having a clear shot at goal. With Marco Silva not having a lot of centre-backs available for this clash, maybe Toffees fans should cut the manager and Jagielka some slack when it came to his performance. While it’s true that at times Jagielka looked liable to make a mistake, he worryingly actually did look the best defender on the pitch in other moments as well. If the veteran gets some games under his belt in the comings weeks, then perhaps the Everton fans below will regret questioning him as he is more than capable than been a worthwhile member of the team.

No way Jagielka or Keane we’re getting back though. Needs to be careful as hugely important to us on Sunday, even consider subbing him soon but little left back cover on the bench. Unless move to a 3 and put Bernard on as a wing back? Jagielka looks knackered.
