There is no denying in the slightest that Everton need to strengthen a few areas, but you would have thought that adding reinforcements to the right-back role would be the least of their worries.

Many Everton fans are no doubt crying out for the club to target a prolific striker for the summer, but so far this has not happened – instead, the Toffees have been on the prowl for a new right back in the shape of Montpellier’s Ruben Aguilar, according to Calcio Mercato.

They have been joined by Crystal Palace in the race for his signature, but there is one player in particular who will not be too fussed about whether Everton end up signing Aguilar.

That player is Seamus Coleman, who will surely be sweating about their first team futures if Aguilar does arrive through the doors at Goodison Park.

He is a respected defender in Ligue 1, and has been a regular for Montpellier this season with 22 appearances in all competitions for the outfit.

On paper, it looks like the 25-year-old seems like a pretty good candidate for the job, and why wouldn’t he? He does not have two clubs chasing after him for no reason, does he?

Everton will surely trump Palace in terms of spending power, so if they really want Aguilar, then they are in a pretty good position to sign him, which will no doubt be to the dismay of Coleman.

The £70,000-a-week [Spotrac] player has not had the best season he could have had so far, and he will be rather concerned about his place in the starting XI in the near future if the club sign Aguilar.

Many fans would not be too concerned about whether Coleman’s future at the club would be compromised, as it is not like they have witnessed the best from him this term.

What’s more, he will definitely catch Marco Silva’s eye even more due to the fact that he can also play at left-back or the right of the midfield.

Either way, Coleman will definitely be quaking in his boots, as his future will be up in the air if Aguilar signs.
