Tottenham could sign starlet Jack Clarke and loan him back to Leeds United for the rest of the season, according to Football London.

The Reach site claim on their live blog (Sunday, 4.01pm) that the Premier League giants are keeping close tabs on the 18-year-old winger after his eyecatching emergence in recent months.

Football London claim the close relationship between Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino and Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa means the possibility of Clarke moving to north London this summer and then heading back to Elland Road for a campaign is on the cards.

OPINION

Losing Clarke would be unpalatable for the Leeds fan base. The club’s academy products have make immense progress under Bielsa this season, but the undoubted shining light has been the baby-faced attacker with the all-round game that has got Premier League scouts licking their lips. Bids were tabled for Clarke in January from top-flight clubs, but Leeds held firm, although none were sufficiently high to make the board sit up and take notice. Valued at over £10million, there is a sense that Clarke could eventually be worth far more than that if he comes close to realising the potential most evident in a series of impactful performances either side of Christmas. As Bielsa knows only too well, the home-grown star has plenty to learn and rough edges that need smoothing off. But the encouraging thing is that he seems tailor-made for the big occasion and the pressure that comes with playing for an elite club where expectations are never anything other than sky-high.
