OPINION
Things could not have been much worse for Chelsea in the first half against Manchester City. They were 4-0 before they had even blinked, but among the general horror show on display, Marcos Alonso still managed to stand out as being particularly dire. The Spaniard has been dreadful for weeks now but has still somehow managed to sneak his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans all season. Against City, however, he seemed to hit a new low. Alonso looked off-colour and out of touch, and ultimately lazy. Going forward he offered nothing, and in his defensive third he bordered on liability status as his side were shellshocked by one of the most comprehensive first half displays seen in the Premier League for a long, long time. Surely the time has come for him to be dropped and you have to wonder what Sarri actually sees in him. It’s harsh, but the full-back is so poor these days that it’s almost impossible to recollect the halcyon days of his career when he was lauded for his play and made the Premier League team of the year. At the moment, it’s hard to see how he will make the Chelsea team next week, and the general consensus is that the sooner he is sold the better.

Have ran out of things to say about Alonso. Not supporting a club that plays this wasteman week in week out.
