Bayern Munich will pursue Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi in the summer, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that the 18-year-old winger has been left devastated over having his dream move to Bayern Munich blocked in January after handing in a transfer request, but that the German club would move for him again in the summer.

The Sun report that an offer of £25million could be enough to tempt Chelsea in to agreeing to a deal in the summer due to Hudson-Odoi’s contract expiring in 2020.

Good move for Chelsea?

No.

With Hudson-Odoi’s contract expiring in 2020 then the Blues may have to accept a bid in the region of £25million even though the player is potentially worth more.

The London club successfully held onto to the winger throughout January despite Bayern’s attempts but it will be a tougher task to keep him beyond the summer due to his deal.

It would be such a shame if Hudson-Odoi was to leave Stamford Bridge as his talent suggests he is destined for a bright future in the game, but losing him for free when his contract expires is an unthinkable scenario.

Likely to happen?

It’s very believable that Bayern Munich won’t give up on Hudson-Odoi as they seemed relentless in their January pursuit of him.

Also given that the German giants clearly, given how keen they seem, would regularly play the teen in competitions such as the Champions League, it’s easy to see why the player will continue to want out of Stamford Bridge.

The teen winger has only been allowed to feature 16 times across all competitions for Chelsea this season and he knows there’s chance he’ll get more playing time at Bayern.

Bayern no doubt wanted him to help boost their bid to succeed in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, but will no doubt still feel he can play an important role for them even if they have to wait until the summer to get him.
