Matt Phillips has been ruled out of West Brom’s clash against QPR on Tuesday night, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claims that James Morrison will also miss the trip to Loftus Road, with both Scotland internationals currently suffering with ankle injuries.

However it is understood that Hal Robson-Kanu and Chris Brunt could both be fit for the Championship showdown, which if West Brom win, they will move within one point of second-placed Sheffield United in the table.

OPINION

It is a major blow for West Brom to be without Phillips as he has been such a key player for them this season, scoring five goals and supplying six assists in 22 league appearances for the Black Country club. However Albion have managed to get some decent results without Phillips since his injury at the start of the year, especially away from home. Darren Moore’s side won 2-0 at Aston Villa on Saturday and have also won at Stoke and Bolton while Phillips has been sidelined. The former QPR attacker would definitely improve West Brom if he was able to play against his old side, but it seems as though Moore’s men should still pick up a result in London regardless. Robson-Kanu potentially being available is a very big boost as Dwight Gayle is suspended. The Wales international was superb against Villa on Saturday up until his injury forced him off a half-time.
