It appears that Victor Orta has just unearthed another gem for Leeds after 17-year-old Mateusz Bogusz made an impressive debut for the Under-23s against Nottingham Forest last night.

Bogusz started off quietly, as to be expected in his first game ever in England, but he grew into the match and fans were seriously happy with what they saw from the youngster.

They’re not the only ones, with Under-23s manager Carlos Corberan calling him a “special player”, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post. Corberan went on to say, “We are going to continue to work with him because I think he can give a lot and bring very positive things for this club.”

The 17-year-old didn’t come to make up the numbers in the development side. When he joined he said in an interview with former club Ruch Chorzow, “I will be training and playing in the Under-23s team, but I was told that I will also participate in the first team’s activities. The club’s plan is to prepare me for the constant presence and play in the first team during the first half-year. Everything depends on me, of course.”

And YEP journalist Phil Hay said earlier that he can see the youngster playing in the number 10 role for the first-team before the end of the season.

Bogusz is only 17-years-old so we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves but he came highly rated from Poland and from what everyone’s been saying, the hype is real.

We don’t know how much Leeds paid for him but it won’t be a large sum. Unearthing players like this can save clubs millions and we’re excited to see what Bogusz can bring to the Leeds table this season.

He’s yet another reason to hail the impact that Orta is having at Elland Road.
