Leeds United teenage defender Lucas Odunston has delivered a big behind-the-scenes boost by revealing he was back running after his serious setback through injury.

The 18-year-old right back took to his personal Twitter account to reveal that he was back on his feet and running about after five months on the sidelines, posting a picture of his boots on his feet which will be a welcome sight for the youth management at Elland Road.

The picture was accompanied by a caption of “soon back”, having been forced to watch his teammates for the majority of the campaign due to his layoff.

Opinion

Leeds know how good their youth talents can be – their performances in the first team over the past couple of seasons proves that – and so to have another starlet back and fighting for a future in the senior side will do their cause no harm. It must be so frustrating at 18 to be forced onto the sidelines with such a serious setback and so he will just be desperate to get back out onto the training pitch to join his teammates. It sounds as though he is only just starting running and so it could be another month or two before he is actually ready to play any meaningful football, but at least he is back on the road to recovery. Jamie Shackleton has found himself shoehorned into a right back role at times this season so could Odunston bring some much needed competition to Bielsa’s door? Only time will tell.
